example of good use of pov shot

This film trailer (the devil inside me) is shot mostly in pov and since there are a few scenes in our trailer that are pov shots we thought this was relevant.

shooting script

Shot begins with two boys in a medium two shot.
They stop as the argument concludes.

Conor: why should she choose YOU over ME?! I've been with her for fives years now, How could she like YOU!(over the shoulder shot) you're just a wee swot that's so full of himself! I don't understand! (shows car coming) [grabs him] It should have been me![pushes into path of car]

Fade to white as car horn brings us back to reality (close up of Conor) as Conor wakes up from bed, sweating and panting. the car horn is then replaced with the sound of an alarm.

Ellipsis as donor is now changed and there is a long shot of going down stairs to door.

(cut to funeral) wide shot of funeral concludes varied shot and angles of people crying then leaving. pov shot of people leaving then Conor sees Danny through the crowd. Danny disappears as crowd passes.

(medium shot) More ellipsis as it turns to Conor returning home. Later, at night he goes into the kitchen and immediately goes on the laptop. (over the shoulder shot) to show what he is searching "do ghosts exist"

He then hears a noise upstairs then goes to investigate, scary music begins. Build up the tension as he slowly walks up stairs he sees the door shaking. Music picks up he opens the door (pov shot) nothing there, music still there. Anti-climax as his phone rings, he takes the call then the music dies.

More ellipsis as he is back on the laptop (more pov of screen)

(music picks up) Hears footsteps moving slowly down the stairs then approaching the door, a shadow is moving underneath the door.

(shot of knife) He then panics as he grabs a kitchen knife and moves cautiously to the door.
pov shot as he opens the door and looks around (still in pov) nothing there, anti-climax close up of Conor's face, climax as Daniel appears behind him. Cut to black and it ends with Conor screaming loudly and the title appears "VENGEANCE"

haunting in connecticut trailer

This trailer stood out to our group because it is shot in a way in which the audience doesn't see the ghost in its entirety and there are quick cuts and frantic camera movements to almost mask the ghost. This not only adds to the fear which we feel watching the trailer but is also helpful when it comes to budget, and as we have no budget and can't afford to spend a lot of money on special effects, high quality costumes and make-up.

Bon voyage short film

This short film is near enough exactly what we hope to achieve in our horror clip. The way this short film is shot is perfect for building tension and suspense for the audience. The way the film is shot gives the audience a better perspective of the events that take place and make it seem as if the victim's fate is predetermined and there is nothing that can change it.

horror film techniques

The techniques used in this short intro appeal to our film because like the video below we are thinking about using very dark colours along with quick cuts and edgy, suspense building music
